Why Stockholm?

We have some of Europe's best congress facilities, right here in town!
Stockholmsmässan, 9 minutes away by commuter train from the City Centre, and Stockholm City Conference Centre, including Folkets Hus and Norra Latin, are facilities suitable for everything from small meetings to large mega-congresses including exhibitions.
We have a unique logistical infrastructure, right here in town!
Numerous fine hotels, close to public transportation or within walking distance of conference facilities or Stockholm Central Station.

Our public transportation system is very reliable and prices are very reasonable.

Or if you'd prefer to drive, we have very few traffic jams in comparison with most European cities. Getting around the city is quick and easy.

Stockholm is a value-for-money city.
Despite what many may claim, serious comparisons show that today's Stockholm is also a very competitive city price-wise.

And dare we also mention that in many respects, Stockholm offers the best economic climate too. At the moment, for example, Sweden's VAT regulations for congresses are extremely advantageous in comparison with those of our competitors.

Stockholm Space for minds!
The chance to eat dinner or enjoy a glass of champagne in the Stockholm City Hall, where the Nobel prizes are celebrated each year, attracts many scientists from around the world. Stockholm also has many of the world's leading researchers at Karolinska Institutet, the Royal Institute of Technology and the Stockholm School of Economics, which guarantees a good congress environment.
Everyone speaks English and many speak other languages, too!
Nearly everyone is surprised that anyone they speak to on the streets or in the market-places of Stockholm speaks and understands English. And many people speak other foreign languages too, including German, Spanish and French, which are third languages in Swedish schools.
Stockholm offers plenty to do in your free time.
The social programme in Stockholm can include so much more than a Nobel banquet at the City Hall. The ability to offer a rich and varied selection of dinners, excursions and activities, both for sponsors and for delegates and their accompanying families, has always been one of Stockholm's strongest points.
Things work in Stockholm!
It may seem strange that this is something that distinguishes Stockholm from other places. But we Swedes are famous for keeping our promises. If we've said that the bus will be there, it will be there. If we've said that the facility's technical equipment will work, then it will work.
Stockholm and Sweden are exotic.
Attending a congress in Australia or Brazil is exotic for us, as Swedes we can combine the congress with a holiday by the Great Barrier Reef or with a carnival and dancing. And Stockholm, in turn, can tempt delegates from America, Japan and other countries with Sweden's full range of exotic treasures.

What would you say to spending a winter's night at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, taking a dogsled ride in Hemavan, or going on a guided skating tour through the shimmering archipelago ice in mid-winter? Or how about seeing the midnight sun in Lappland, taking a steamboat tour, or enjoying Stockholm's cafés and range of entertainment possibilities in a pleasant summer climate?

We can offer the sort of things many people long to do in their free time, right here in Stockholm.
We have the full support of the City of Stockholm and other public Swedish institutions.
The City of Stockholm invites international congresses to a reception at the City Hall (subject to certain conditions being met); international congresses can buy special passes valid on all forms of public transport; and the Royal Family, government ministers and many governmental authorities are regularly involved in congresses, before, during and after they are held.
Last but by no means least!
We have numerous successful researchers who have attended congresses around the world and who are keen to return the hospitality their hosts showed them. This is a particularly important factor, not least for the congress organiser and for those attending as individual delegates. It is important to them to feel that Stockholm and Stockholmers welcome their overseas guests. And we think that that's EXACTLY WHAT WE DO!
