General Information


The Religion on the Borders conference will take place between the 19th and the 22th of April 2007 (Wednesday - Saturday).  It will be held at the Södertörn University College in Stockholm, some 20 minutes from the city center by public transportation.

Below you will find information concerning a variety of issues related to the conference (in alphabetical order):

Arlanda Airport
Arlanda Airport is located 49 km north of Stockholm. The Arlanda Express is the train service that links Stockholm City with the Airport. The trip takes 20 minutes. It is advised that you book your Arlanda Express ticket in advance at the same time you register for the congress. The Conference Secretariat, StoCon offers discounted tickets for travel with the Arlanda Express train from Arlanda to Stockholm. Your confirmation letter will serve as a ticket when presented to the train conductor. SEK 160 each way (ordinary price SEK 200).
Alternatives:
Taxi: We recommend that you request one of the many taxis offering a fixed price from the airport to the city, approximately SEK 450-500, rather than the more expensive per-kilometer rate.
Bus: There is a direct bus connection from Arlanda Airport to the City Terminal in Stockholm. The travel time is about 40 minutes and costs SEK 95. The bus leaves Arlanda Airport every 10 minutes.

Audio-visual Facilities
All lecture halls will be equipped with overhead (OH) projectors. PC projectors can be arranged if requested.

Badges
The participant's name badge will be provided at the registration desk. All participants are requested to wear the badge throughout the conference. Only badge holders will be admitted to the sessions.

Business Hours and Shopping
Shops are generally open between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturdays. Shops in the city center have extended opening hours, some even on Sundays between 12:00 and 16:00. The main shopping streets in the center of Stockholm are: Hamngatan, Biblioteksgatan, Drottninggatan, and Västerlånggatan in the Old Town.

Climate
The average temperature in April is around +6 and 12C (43 to 54F)

Credit Cards
Commonly accepted cards in hotels, shops, and at the registration desk are American Express, Diners Club, Visa, MasterCard, and Eurocard.

Currency
The currency in Sweden is the Swedish Krona, SEK. The approximate exchange rates in July 2006 were:
SEK 100 = Euro 10.74
SEK 100 = USD 13.66

Dress
Informal dress is acceptable on all occasions.

Insurance
Neither the Conference Organisers nor the Conference Secretariat accept any liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference. It is strongly recommended that you purchase the insurance policy of your choice as you register for the conference and book your travel. The insurance should be purchased in your country of origin.

Language
The official congress language is English, some of the sessions may be given in other languages. There will be no simultaneous interpretation.

Letter of Invitation
The Conference Secretariat will be pleased to provide Letters of Invitation to any individual making such a request. A Letter of Invitation often facilitates the procedure of obtaining a visa. Please note that the Letter is not a commitment on the part of the conference to provide financial support. Deadline to apply for the Letter of Invitation is March 30, 2007

Meals
Coffee and lunches are included in the registration fee and will be served at the venue.

On-site Registration
On-site registrations will be accepted, but the availability of hotel accommodations and touring arrangements may be severely limited.

Press
Authorized members of the press are welcome to cover the Religion on the Borders Conference. All press is welcome to register and use the online form. You will be asked to show your press identification at the venue.

Program
An outline of the structure of the conference program will available on the website. The final program will be available closer to the conference.

Time Zone

Transportation to the Conference Venue
Public Transport:
Take the commuter train from Stockholm Central Station towards Södertälje. Get off at Flemingsberg Station. The journey takes less than twenty minutes. Take the escalator up to the university.

By inter-city train:
Some inter-city trains stop at Flemingsberg. The ones that do not stop at Flemingsberg go directly to Stockholm Central Station where it is possible to change to a commuter train.

By car:
From the North: Take the motorway E4/E20. At Vårby, take the exit for Flemingsberg/Huddinge. Take Road 259 to Flemingsberg and then follow the signs for Södertörns högskola.

From Stockholm: Take Road 73 towards Nynäshamn. Just before Stockholm Globe Arena, turn right on Road 226 towards Huddinge/ Tumba, When you reach Flemingsberg, follow the signs for Södertörns högskola. The journey takes approximately twenty-five minutes.

From the South: Take the motorway E4/E20. At Fittja, take the exit for Flemingsberg/Huddinge. Take Road 259 to Flemingsberg and then follow the signs for Södertörns högskola.

Visa
Participants who need a visa for entry into Sweden are strongly advised to apply in their home country well in advance. If in doubt, information can be obtained from your nearest Swedish Embassy or Consulate or from your travel agency.
